Thinning Out My Wardrobe

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

If you’ve been keeping up this year, you know that one of my New Year’s resolutions was to purge my wardrobe of items I just don’t wear. At the beginning of the year I turned all my hangers backwards and as I wore certain pieces, I put them back hanging the right way. I’m very proud to say that I’ve kept this up ALL YEAR LONG. So proud! With an impending move date, I wanted to start purging the clothes from the warmer months since they’ve had their season. I’m not completely purging my winter wardrobe since real cold weather hasn’t hit us yet; but, I wanted to share the experience as I go through my warmer clothes.

I did not expect this much to come out of my wardrobe! It just goes to show how much rationalizing you do in your head when you look at your closet.

“I’ll wear this!”

“I just didn’t know I still had this, I’ll definitely break this out this year!”

“I paid too much to not wear this. I’ll make myself wear this!”

I’m guilty of saying all of these phrases. I’m forcing my hanger method to be the deciding factor in whether a piece stays or goes. I highly recommend everyone looking to purge their wardrobe of non-essentials to try this hanger method out. It was so useful for me to see what I actually touch and what I should just forget about (however bittersweet that may be). You don’t have to wait for the New Year to roll around to give it a go. Just put a reminder on your calendar for a year from now to look back at your wardrobe.

Now, it’s time to march all these clothes down to my nearest donation center. I love donating all the items I don’t want/need/use. I don’t need it so why let it go to waste? Be sure to consider donating any of your items you remove from your wardrobe. There are plenty of people who will definitely appreciate it!

Leave me a comment below and let me know if you’ve tried this method or if you plan on doing it in the future!

Clothes I Can’t Wait To Break Out This Fall

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I’m a summer baby all the way; but, I have to say, I really do love the fall time. The weather is a gorgeous relief from the heat, the landscape really starts to change, and fall is home to my favorite holiday – Halloween. Although, one of my favorite things about fall is the fashion! Nothing beats the cozy sweaters and oversized accessories. Ugh! Just talking about the fall fashion is taking all my willpower to keep myself seated and not running straight to my closet. My fall clothes are screaming to be worn again this year; so, come take a peek at what favorites I’m dying to bust out again this year!

Hats

Beanies, oversized knitted caps, and oversized sun hats. I can’t get enough!

Mixed Textures & Patterns

Some of my favorite pieces to wear in the fall don’t actually have a specific name or piece. I just love mixing and matching all the fall textures and patterns together to make a beautifully layered look.

Knee High Boots

Knee high boots are the perfect pair to a pair of leggings or even a dress to keep covered up and still look chic!

Thick Scarves

With all the static and frizz that comes along with this time of year, I like to throw my hair up in a bun and pair it with a big chunky scarf. Top it off with some dramatic earrings – killer.

Knitted Sweaters

Yes! Fall means it’s officially sweater weather time and you bet this is one of the first things to come out of my closet this year!

Easy Breezy Summer Look – OOTD

Cardigan (similar) : Forever 21   |  Shorts : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Charlotte Russe  |

|  Tank Top : H&M  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Happy hump day everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and hope your week is flying by as fast as mine is! I put this outfit together for a little get together this past weekend and just had to share it with you all. I love this cardigan SO much. I try and get as much wear out of it as I possibly can (with the bold pattern, it gets quite difficult). It’s such a light piece that I don’t mind wearing it in the hotter months but it’s a nice change of pace from just the everyday tanks and tees. I paired it with this simple black tank and ripped denim shorts. The shorts certainly help the cardigan seem more summer appropriate and make the look more casual. You could definitely mix your shoe selection up with this outfit. I opted for these heeled booties to dress it up a bit; but, this outfit will look just as good with a decorative sandal as well. This was absolutely perfect for a fun night out with friends!

Leave me a comment below telling me how you change up your traditional summer outfits!

How To Keep Your Wedding Ring Pristine

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

You got the ring, now what? It’ll stay beautiful and radiant for the first couple weeks (probably because you’re so attached to it that it never leaves your finger). After that point, you’ll start to notice it dulling a bit. I’m here to help you keep it pristine from the very beginning. Bad habits are easier to break when you don’t start them. Here are my biggest tips for keeping that gorgeous rock clean and stunning for years to come!

Cleaning It Regularly

Basic, I know. When you wear it day after day you don’t notice how dull your ring can get. Diamonds glisten and gleam even when a bit dingy so you won’t be able to tell how dirty it actually is until you get yourself on an actual schedule. I use the Connoisseurs Jewelry Cleaner in Precious. I love this cleaner and notice a significant difference after cleaning it. It takes 30 seconds and makes a world of difference! I clean my ring every other week or two. Make sure to read the instructions on the cleaner you use so you don’t damage your ring by cleaning it too much.

Knowing When To Take It Off

Do I ever WANT to take this gorgeous thing off? No. Do I know when I NEED to take it off? Yes.

I make sure to take it my ring off when I’m doing anything strenuous on my hands, anything messy (even if that’s just washing my hands or light cleaning around the house), and even sleeping. Sleeping is a big one for me. I bought my husband and myself cute little ring holders that we both keep on our nightstands. You don’t realize (since you’re obviously sleeping, duh) that you put your body in awkward positions and maybe you even lay on your hands. Wear like that over time can cause prongs to come loose. Yikes!

Staring At It

It’s the most expensive accessory I’ll ever own. I mean, it’s probably the most expensive piece I’ll put on my body – PERIOD! Of course I’m going to be staring at it constantly. Another reason to be keeping an eye on your jewelry is so you can easily detect when something seems wrong. You’ll be more apt to notice diamonds coming loose or, God forbid, missing. If you are keeping an eye on your ring, you’ll be able to get it into a store to be fixed before any real damage.

Who Says Pants Aren’t Made For Summer?

Top (similar) : Forever 21   |  Bottoms : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Kohls  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I’ve been so excited to share this outfit post with you guys. I’m absolutely obsessed with these pants! I saw them on the Charlotte Russe website and ordered them immediately. I’m so glad that I did because they work with so many occasions and tops. I’ll definitely getting good use of these this summer! On this day, my husband and I were still in beautiful Jamaica. I thought this outfit would be perfect for a romantic dinner on the beach. It was absolutely the perfect outfit to transition into the night. The extra fabric makes it perfect to drape over your legs if you get cold but aren’t stuffy. I highly recommending checking these out! I’m hoping to see this style more and more in stores so I can get my hands on some more!

Dress attire : semi-formal, black tie, black tie optional….what? Sure, these terms are thrown around all the time; but, what should you actually wear to these events? Thankfully, The Black Tux has put together some extremely helpful tips and tricks to help define all the dress codes you’ll come across. These dress codes extend much further than solely weddings. All these tips you’ll find in the charts below can be used for dates, work parties, or any other event in your life.

Men, once you’ve decided what you want to wear to your big event, don’t fret if you don’t have the necessary pieces in your wardrobe. Beach-side Drinks

Top (similar) : Forever 21   |  Shorts : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Poshmark  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Really wish I could be spending this Memorial Day weekend enjoying drinks out over the open ocean but these memories will have to suffice! I could think of no better outfit for exploring the resort than an off the shoulder cropped top and some denim shorts. Both pieces allow you to wear your swimsuit inconspicuously underneath without taking away from the outfit. I love this top and it has been in my wardrobe arsenal for years. It was originally from Victoria’s Secret and it has held up through the years beautifully. I’ll link a similar one in this post.

Leave me a comment below letting me know if you have a favorite outfit to hide your swimsuit!
