Wedding Wednesday – The Nails

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Happy hump day everybody! Today I wanted to talk to you about the gorgeous set of nails I had done for the big day. I tried a new nail salon and ended up really enjoying my experience there. They did a great job with my nails and spent extra time/effort to make sure they were perfect. Whether they do that to all their clients or just because I mentioned I was getting married, who knows. They don’t have a website and aren’t active on social media, otherwise I would link them, so I really only went off of the reviews they had online. Which I’m glad everything worked out for the best!

Of course, I brought them a picture I had found on Pinterest hoping that the look was achievable. I’d say they did a pretty good job! I originally was just going to go for the traditional French tip but I needed that glam effect! So, instead of just a flesh colored base, I went with a rose gold/copper glitter base. I had them blend it into the white so it appeared to fade into one another. I really like how they turned out. I thought they complimented the colors in my dress well and didn’t overpower the sparkle of the ring. Perfection!

Wedding Wednesday – Wedding Day Hair

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

My hair for the big day was a big decision to make for me. Besides the dress, the second most important thing is definitely the hair. I always knew I wanted to wear my hair down on my wedding day. (I’ve been growing it out for years.) Though I knew I wanted it down, I needed to figure out how to have my hair down and not take away from the back of the dress. For those who missed it, check out my Wedding Wednesday – The Dress post to see pictures. Naturally, I immediately began searching Pinterest for the perfect style and of course I found it. I had my stylist curl all my hair and then pin it all to one side. I love the way it looked! It was absolutely perfect with my dress style.

I got my hair done at Salon Vici and I highly recommend them. Their salon is seriously the cutest and they do great work. I go there for all my cuts so of course I trusted them with my big day style. They did an amazing job!

My hairpiece came from Stacey’s Bridal, the shop where I purchased my dress. The piece added the much needed sparkle that was missing from my hair. It complimented my dress’s pendant so well. I’m really glad that I bought the hairpiece, especially because I didn’t do a veil.

All in all, I loved how my style turned out. It looked exactly like my inspiration picture but better with the hair piece! Let me know what style you want/had on your big day. Leave a comment below!

Wedding Wednesday – DIY Centerpieces

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Happy Wedding Wednesday! These centerpieces turned out super cute! This DIY can be used as inspiration for your own wedding or as a template. I will try to link all of the items I can find so you can order them for yourself! For my wedding I wanted glam with a hint of nature. I feel that these translated that feeling perfectly. I’m still so in love with these.

You Will Need :

  1. 12” Mirrors
  2. Glitter Table Runner
  3. Cylindrical vases in assorted heights
  4. Branches
  5. Floating Candles
  6. Tea Light Candles
  7. Hydrangeas
  8. Small Crystals
  9. Water

Luckily for me, a family member had recently gotten married and had many items on hand for me to borrow. This helped save me on cost TREMENDOUSLY. I can’t thank them enough!

Firstly, I took the one table runner I ordered and cut it into 14” x 14” squares. The table runner is 14” wide so to made it pretty easy to eyeball a square. Once I had the table runner cut, I put it down on the center of the table. Lay your 12” mirror on top and rotate it 90 degrees to form the star pattern I did. The cylindrical vases can be arranged on the mirror. In the two shorter vases, I stuffed with branches from a local park. The tallest vase will get a few hydrangea stems. (I chose hydrangeas because they give a very rich and full appearance without using too many branches.) Fill all the vases with water. The water will help disproportionate the branches and make them appear bulkier so adjust as needed. Go ahead and plop in a floating candle in your branch vases. Add some of your small tea candles sporadically on the mirror. If you feel like it needs a little more detail, sprinkle some larger crystals into the mix for the added glam factor.

I absolutely love how these turned out. They looked amazing and added just enough glam for my liking. I encourage all of you brides out there on a budget to try out this DIY.

Wedding Wednesday – All About The Groom

Suit : Younkers  |  Shirt  : Younkers  |  Tie : Younkers  |  Shoes  : JC Penny  |

|  Cufflinks : Amazon  |  Watch : Amazon

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Since last week I focused on my outfit, I thought that this week would be a great time to talk all about my husband’s look. He, of course, looks like a stud all the time but he was especially studly on our wedding day.

My husband and I talked about his outfit before the day of and we decided on going with a navy look. I’m so glad we did because navy looked so great with the blush and champagne tones throughout our event. Navy, as opposed to your standard black or gray, helps not to wash you or your groom out. (It looked great with his olive skin tones so that’s a plus!) To compliment his navy suit, we used brown accents for some of his accessories. These shoes definitely popped and went so well with the new watch we picked up. This watch was such a neat find and so unique.

Overall, we both really loved the way his whole ensemble came together. Venturing out of the traditional black/gray realm was definitely a must for us as well. He looked so handsome and I’m so happy I get to call this man my husband.

Wedding Wednesday – The Dress

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I have officially peaked. I will never wear a more beautiful dress ever again. I am absolutely in love with my dress and I still love it afterwards. Despite it’s not so great price tag, it was my perfect dress. If you read my Most Expensive Delivery I Have Ever Received post, then you know the struggle I went through to find this gorgeous piece. I’ve linked that post here so we don’t have to talk about any negative experiences in this post!

Kitty Chen is definitely my favorite designer from now on. I highly recommend you check out her designs (whether or not you’re getting married) because I know you’ll fall in love. All her designs are so unique and beautiful; however, Makayla is something else. The front of the dress is obviously gorgeous but the back is to die for! As soon as I tried it on, I knew. Not being able to decide which sided was my favorite was definitely a sign that it needed to be mine. To customize this dress a bit more for my taste, we raised up that gorgeous pendant in the back so that it hit my mid-back area. Leaving the pendant where it originally was would’ve been beautiful but I felt that my back was a little too bare with the pendant hanging so low.

Every time I see this dress I fall in love with it all over again. I’m sure that feeling will always linger when I revisit these pictures and memories. Now off to get this beautiful baby preserved! I’m not quite sure what I want to do with it just yet. I can’t even imagine selling this beauty yet.

For those that have done this before, what are some creative things you have done with your dress?

Wedding Wednesday – Piece of Cake!

2016-11-16_0002.jpg

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

For those who don’t know, I got married this last weekend and that’s why I may have been a little absent this past week or so. I’m getting back into the swing of things and I thought there wouldn’t be anything better to kick it off again than a super sweet post. (See what I did there?)

One of the many highlights of the day for everyone, was the cake. I’ve never had so many people rave about something in my entire life! Of course the cake was amazing; but, I’m not a big cake person so the only bite I had was the obligatory husband shoving it in my face bite. I’m obviously in love with the look of the cake, as was everyone, but everyone said it tasted as good as it looked! I mean, you can’t really go wrong with almond flavored anything. Right?

I ordered the cake from a small bakery called The Sweetest Thing. She does amazing work and I’ve had many of her goodies before so I can attest to her delicious cookies and cupcakes. She hand painted this cake and attached edible gold leaf accents to match my inspiration picture exactly! We all know Pinterest is full of many wonderful ideas, a lot of which are far-fetched and often unattainable. She is a dream maker! I’m absolutely in love with how it turned out!

She does such fabulous work and is so easy going. I definitely recommend The Sweetest Thing to everyone! I know who will be doing all my baking from now on! Be sure to check out her Facebook page for some more work she has done. She has some really innovative ideas for Thanksgiving goodies she would love to make this season. Two thumbs up, I highly recommend her!

Wedding Day Accessories

003

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Happy Wedding Wednesday Everyone! I wanted to talk to you guys about some day of accessories I’ve picked up to bring the whole look together. Since I can’t share the dress yet, the least I can do is show the accessories, right? I’m not your conventional bride by any means. I don’t want something old, I don’t want to borrow something, I don’t want something blue, BUT I will take everything new. J That whole saying just never really made sense to me and I never thought it was something I would actually do, so I didn’t! (Don’t be afraid to break traditions in order to maintain your personality.) Also, can we talk about the garters? What is the point of that? I don’t get it nor do I want it. Just give me the essentials and I’ll be perfectly content. So, that is exactly what I purchased.

Shoes

Wedding shoes are beautiful and extravagant and their prices often reflect that. However, I know myself and I know that as soon as pictures are done, I’m throwing the shoes in the corner and rocking it barefoot all night. (You can call me gross, that’s fine) Heels are beautiful but that beauty often comes at a price! Instead, I opted for a lower heel (three and a half inches is my low) that was neutral enough that I know I would wear after the wedding for everyday occasions. Which is how I found these beautiful little babies. They’re definitely on the plain side but after the wedding celebrations, I can see myself pairing these with a pair of rose colored jeans and a blue and white striped buttoned down blouse. Ugh! I can’t wait to actually get some use out of these! I found these originally on Macy’s but I purchased them on Amazon for the same price (I like Amazon’s return policy more than Macy’s).

Hairpiece

This was too tempting to pass up. I knew I wanted a little something for my hair and knew I needed it to pack a punch of bling. Luckily, the boutique I purchased my dress at, had a variety of selection and this wasn’t too bad of a price! I’m really excited to see this pull together all of my bling on the big day!

Earrings

The bling doesn’t stop there. I got these beauties to compliment the hairpiece. I like the subtly of these earrings. They aren’t over the top and huge (like some of my other earrings can get). They are just enough sparkle! I picked these up at Nordstrom Rack for a great price, considering the brand.
