Christmas Tag

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I saw Be A Free Blog do this tag and I thought it was super cute and in the spirit of Christmas, I suppose I’ll do this holiday tag. (If you know me, you know I’m not the jolliest of people when it comes to Christmas. Not sure why. I just never have been!) I hope you enjoy!

1.Whats Your Favorite Holiday Movie?
Rudolf. Classic.
2. Whats Your Favorite Christmas Color?
I actually HATE the traditional green and red Christmas colors. My favorite Christmas colors are the simplicity of white and golds (as if that’s different than any other season).
3. Do You Like To Stay in Your PJs Or Dress Up For Christmas?

PJ’s but it’s a must to dress up for those cute pictures!
4. If You Could Only Buy One Person a Present This Year Who Would It Be?
I guess I would buy for my husband since he has to put up with me all year, I suppose he deserves it 😉
5. Do You Open Your Present Christmas Eve Or Christmas Morning?
My family has always opened on Christmas morning
6. Have You Ever Built a Ginger Bread House?
In elementary school…but never since then!
7. What Do You Like To Do On Your Christmas Break?
 Now that I’m a working adult I don’t get one 😦
8. Any Christmas Wishes?
Just happiness and health to all my loved ones
9. Favorite Christmas Smell?
I love the deep apple and cinnamon scents for Christmas
10. Favorite Christmas Meal Or Treat?
 I didn’t know this was a thing…
11. Which holiday do you celebrate?

Christmas
 12. What are you doing for the holidays this year?
Lots of family, food, and good times!
 13. What’s your favorite holiday drink?

Hot Chocolate
14. Candy cane or Gingerbread men?
Candy Canes
15. What’s your favorite holiday/Christmas song?

Not a fan…
16. What’s the weirdest gift you’ve ever received?
Not sure if I’ve received any strange gifts, people normally ask me or know me well enough to know what I want.
17. Have you ever made a snowman?
For sure! Hasn’t everyone?
18.What is your favorite winter fragrance?
I don’t change up my scents depending on the time of year. No one has time for that!
 19. What is at the top of your list this Christmas?
Still having items open in our wedding registry made Christmas lists extremely easy this year. What I want most though would be a little help funding our honeymoon though!
20. What is most important to you about the holidays?
Spending quality time with family and friends. Cliche, I know.

What are your answers? Be sure to tag me in your post, I would love to see your answers!

Christmas Decor – Tips for Holiday Decorating For Renters

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Tis the season for red and green, fake Santa, and garland galore. When it comes to Christmas, I’m not too big of a “traditional Christmas” fan. It’s hard for me to find a more obnoxious color pairing than red and green. Plus most of the Christmas decor is kind of old and gaudy for my taste. When I decorate for the holidays I learn more towards neutral colors with pops of glitz and glam. I know my taste definitely isn’t for everyone but I’ll link everything I possibly can if you’re feeling inspired to add a few pops to your own home.

We are still renting so we can’t go all out for holiday decor, which is preferred in my opinion. So, I thought I’d help share some tips and tricks to make your home Christmas ready for renters. You can fully embrace the holiday spirit without punching an obscene amount of holes in the wall.

Scale Down The Tree

For many renters, your place isn’t as large as a home typically would be. Don’t be afraid to scale down the tree. You can still decorate it enough to pack the punch of a larger tree and save space at the same time. We have a six foot tree and it’s only about twenty inches wide which is perfect for this new tree skirt and the perfect size for our apartment. We definitely don’t need anything bigger than that! We also have a smaller eighteen inch tall tree meant to put on a table but #catownerproblems. (The even smaller table ready tree would be great for those of you in a studio apartment or dorm room.) My tree and the ornaments are both from Target and the string lights are from Amazon.

Command Hooks Are Life Savers

I can’t tell you how many of these hooks I’ve bought in the past. They are serious life savers! Without a mantel to hang stockings on, these clear Command hooks make it easy to hide behind our mirror and not stand out on the wall. I only had the large clear hooks on hand so I went with those this year. The stockings came from the dollar spot at Target this year and I’m obsessed with them! They’re so cute! They had three colors which was perfect for our little family.

Fully Decorate a Small Area of Your Home

That area for us was this DIY refurbished dresser made hutch in our dining room. Adding a small fully decorated area of your home will help it seem a little more homey for the holidays. Usually, if you’re renting, your place isn’t very large so a small area is all you need! I wanted to tie in the brown tones from the stockings so I kept out these two letters that I hauled a month or so ago and I added these pine cones. I love the warmth that these gave this area. The garland and that beautiful little deer are from Target. The white ornate candle is from this cute little shop in Colorado, Global Candle Gallery. The larger candle set is actually meant for inside a fireplace but I think it looks cute on this hutch.

String Lights / Fairy Lights

Everyone’s go-to Christmas decor. These lights are from Amazon and are wonderful so far! I got two of them so I could string them in the tree and drape another over our headboard. The lights are the only Christmas decor in our bedroom because the only time we spend in there is when our eyes are closed. It didn’t really seem necessary to decorate in there. I think the Christmas lights add just enough touch of the holidays in there. Getting the lights with the white wire was crucial with the white Christmas tree so I’m extremely excited to have them.

Christmas Party OOTD

Shirt : Forever 21  |  Skirt  : New York & Comapny  |  Heels : Nordstrom  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

‘Tis the season for holiday parties galore! I recently attended a company holiday party and thought I’d share my outfit for the night. We had a semi-formal dress code for the event so I didn’t go all out. I feel like this skirt classes up any top you pair it with. Also, the color is absolutely perfect for this time of year. I’m not big on the traditional red and green colors for Christmas so this burgundy is perfect. This top is great but be sure to wear something underneath. It’s a loose fit and sometimes gets a little too loose, if you catch my drift. The heels I paired it with were a lower heel than I’m accustomed to so they were perfect to wear all night. Luckily, it hasn’t snowed here yet this year so this was the perfect outfit for the occasion. Great night, great people, great fashion!
