My Gallery Wall

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Like everything in a home, no project is ever complete. I just wanted to show you where I am in the process of creating my gallery wall. I love gallery walls because they are the easiest and best looking way to display pictures, Knick knacks, and all kinds of decorative items you may pick up along the way. My gallery wall has been a work in progress for about a year so far and I’m really happy with how it’s coming together. I will link all the products I can or at least link similar products.

Downtown Chicago Pictures

My mother actually took these photos years ago on one of her trips there with my sister. I loved the shots so I decided to put them in this simple black frame from Target.

Libra & Cancer Paintings

These are watercolor paintings I did myself actually. I got the idea off of similar pieces from Minted, feel free to buy them here if art isn’t your forte. I ordered the square white frames from Amazon and I love them.

Couple’s Pictures

The idea for this came from Pinterest, of course. It’s a picture of me and my husband our first year and our last year of college with our first college apartment address in the middle. Once I get around to it, I am going to put a copy of that apartment’s key in the center as well. Loved the idea and I can’t wait to see it all come together.

Gold Foil Iowa Map

I ordered this piece from Minted as soon as I found it. I LOVE the gold foil. Minted also has a variety of frames to offer so I just picked up a white one to go with my theme.

Artistic Quote

The small little quote in the blue frame was just a quote I got off of Pinterest paired with a frame I picked up from Target.

Antique Mirrored Arrows

I picked these up recently from Target and I love the three dimensionality it gives to the wall. These are so cute and can be sure all together or separately like I am.

Wedding Quote

This gorgeous piece was actually a wedding gift from my sister. I love it! The poem is one she wrote specifically for us and I think it’s absolutely beautiful! Her creativity never ceases to amaze me.

Family Photo

I love these family photos we took last year with my husband’s family and the blue in their shirts pairs well with the subtle blue theme of the wall.

Gold Hello Sign

I recently picked this up from the Target dollar spot and thought it was a super cute addition. The hello sign can be removed and replaced with a new picture but I like the color of it so I think I’ll keep it for a while.

I hope you enjoyed this little look at my gallery wall and pulled some inspiration to incorporate these pieces in your own home. Let me know down below what your favorite piece was!

Great Room Inspiration

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

As an interior designer by profession, I see a lot of different styles and design for many different high end clients. I’d like to think that being a designer makes it easy to design my own home; but, the truth is that my tastes change all the time since I’m surrounded with so many different styles. It’s hard for me to choose exactly what I would like in my own home but I do have a pretty good idea of what elements I prefer. Since there are so many different areas of a home, I decided to focus on one room, the living room. This is where most of my time is spent currently and I have a pretty good understanding of what I need/want in that space.

Deep Hues

Deep, dark colors in both furniture and wall color. I love the aesthetic of a well-designed dark space. There’s a way to design a beautiful dark space without making it look like a cave.

Luxe Items

Brining in luxe glam items in places like the coffee tables and end tables will help lighten up the place and give it a more feminine touch. I love the mix and grunge and glam in a space.

Accent Lighting

I would love to have a large feature piece like a chandelier or a beautiful set of accent pendants. A dark space needs more than one layer of light to help with ambiance during all times of the day. Simply lamps or recessed lighting won’t do the trick as the only source of light.

Texture

If you’ve seen my bedroom tour, you know I love texture as opposed to color. I’d love to bring in different textures with wood flooring, tiled fireplaces, mirrored accent pieces, metal lighting, and a plethora of fabric types.

The mixture of all of these will create the perfect dark glam space that I envision as my dream great room. I can’t wait to own my own property where I am allowed to make changes like these to create my dream space. What does your dream living room look like? I would love to know!
