Favorite Blog Posts From July

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Selecting my favorite posts this month became way easier once I realized how few posts actually went out this month. This month has been a whirlwind and you can read exactly why here in one of last week’s posts. The lack of posts are definitely going to change though with this coming month. I’ve got some really great stuff in the works that I can’t wait to share. Before we get into the next crazy month, take a look at some of my favorites from this past month.

July Fourth Sweets

Really yummy dessert recipe that’s great for independence day or any party!

DIY Soothing Linen Spray

If you’re obsessed with essential oils, be sure to check this out! I use my diffuser and this spray every single day (maybe even a couple times a day!).

Healthy “Milk”Shake

Of course you could go to a restaurant and order a milkshake; or, you could stay home in your PJ’s and make a healthier version.

Workplace Essentials Every Girl Needs

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I can’t tell you how many times I regretted not having a nail file before I finally brought one in to work with me. (I’m the kind of person who will sit there and mess with my nails ALL DAY LONG.) It honestly gets distracting when you don’t have everything you need on hand. All the essentials you’ll find yourself reaching for during various parts of your day can be found here. Be sure you stock up your workspace with all the miscellaneous items you don’t realize you need!

Nail Essentials – tweezer, mini scissor, nail file, nail clippers, current polish, hand lotion

Lady-business Essentials – pads/tampons, Advil, two bottles of wine, you know – just the essentials 😉

Makeup Essentials – mirror, touch up powder, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick/chap stick

Food/Drink Essentials – extra tea bags/instant coffee, gum/mints, artificial sweeteners, on-the-go snacks

Electronic Essentials – portable battery pack, chargers for all your devices, headphones

Winter Beauty Essentials

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Midwestern winters are no joke! Needing to up your moisturizing routine is an understatement. I’ll take you through some of my intense winter essential products to help me get through the bitter cold.

Lush Retread

You know I love this conditioner, I use it every time I’m about to wash my hair. I coat the lower half of my hair with this conditioner and leave it in for about 20-30 minutes. My hair sure appreciates it in these bitter cold months!

Argan Oil

I always use this oil after washing my hair; however, in the winter I like to use it every day on the ends of my hair. It’s a great leave in conditioner. In the winter, my hair drinks it up like it’s nothing! Highly recommend!

Glam Glow ThirstyMud

This is a new purchase and I’m loving it. I use a mask about every day and I love this for an intense moisturizing mask. My skin glows the next morning after using this and the smell is to die for!

Literally the only thing that can save my lips in the winter. EOS and Chapstick just doesn’t compare!

A great life-saver to those who need an intense concentration of moisture for their hands, elbows, or feet. I like lathering up my feet and then slipping on some fuzzy socks!

Travel Essentials

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

As many of you know, I am on vacation this week. My favorite part of the year, Colorado time! I thought this would be a great time to show you some of my traveling essentials when it comes to vacation or extensive traveling. I could write you a book of all the items I brought with because I’m one of those over packers, it’s a habit I refuse to quit. Let’s just focus on two of my main bags I bring with me: my go-to bag (essentially a carry on) and my beauty necessity bag.

My go-to bag, as I like to refer to it because we are driving instead of flying to Colorado, is kind of a catch all for my important goodies. These are items I can’t live without, at least not for too long! The obvious items would be my laptop and phone. Those two items will help me get through the 10 hour car ride! Of course, I pack the chargers for both of these items, however I do like to throw in my portable phone charger. This definitely comes in handy out in the mountains where reception is spotty and secretly draining my battery. Packing a selfie stick is also a must for those great views! My small arms can barely get myself in a photo, let alone myself and a mountain. Knowing the destination, I’ll throw in a travel container of both sunscreen and bug spray. I’ll be sure to pack a pair of headphones, sunglasses, my keys, and wallet. And finish off with some items such as perfume, concealer, mascara, etc. for small touch ups when we arrive.

As for my beauty necessity bag, this is packed with all kinds of things I find myself reaching for on a daily basis. I’ve learned, the hard way, what items I simply cannot leave the house without! Take a look and maybe this list will help you to not forget anything you may need!

  • Tweezers
  • Nail Clippers
  • Nail File
  • Mini-Scissors
  • Eye Drops
  • Travel Mirror
  • Chapstick
  • Lotion
  • Travel Perfume
  • Q-tips
  • Cotton Pads
  • Hair Ties and Bobby Pins

I hope this helps you figure out what is worth bringing along and what can stay home. Safe travels to you all this summer!
