Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Last week, my Valentine’s night consisted of hubby making me dinner and just spending some quality time together. (Which we do every night, but tonight I got flowers as well!) Since we were doing just a simple night in, we decided the weekend after Valentine ’s Day we wanted to go out and have a fun adventure together to a place we’d never been before. We went to a local bakery and ordered some really yummy looking treats! Both of these fun date ideas can be found in my Valentine’s Day On A Budget post.

For our casual little day adventure, I decided to wear this adorable pink bodysuit and paired it with this lacey bralette number. I used these cute white heels to dress up the simple light wash jean and topped the whole look off with my favorite white trench coat. I love this coat and it is SO much warmer than it looks! (Also, these heels were my wedding heels. I told you I wanted shoes that I could utilize after the big day!)

Comment below what your Valentine’s Day consisted of. I’d love to hear from you!

My Current Obsession

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I’ve always been a blue girl since the day I was born! When I was a young girl I had baby blue walls in my bedroom, throughout middle and high school you couldn’t find me without a pair of blue jeans, in college I decked out my dorm room with a bright turquoise, and now today I’m obsessing over the color navy!

I’ve been on a big navy kick for the past few months and I’m not quite sure what sparked it. For my avid readers, you know that when it comes to decorating my home I stray away from color. However, when you saw my living room set up in my Tips And Tricks For Creating Your Dream Living Room, I’ve splurged on a few navy items. The first incorporation of navy in my home were the navy and gold pillows. I saw them at Target and couldn’t resist! Then when I ran across this canvas at Homemakers, ugh. There was no way I could pass that up.

I’ve been noticing myself sway more towards this navy trend in clothing as well. I’ve found myself sorting through sites by that color alone. There’s just something about that color that I think looks so flattering. Probably because, let’s be honest, it’s so close to black. My ultimate go-to color for wardrobe, decorating, and life in general.

As I said, I have no idea what sparked this navy obsession but I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon! What are you guys currently obsessing over? Let me know in the comments below!

Comfy Movie OOTD

Shirt : Charlotte Russe  |  Leggings : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Bonanza (similar) |

|  Scarf : Charlotte Russe  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Colder temperatures call for cozy movie nights. I was definitely ready to cuddle up in a big fuzzy blanket and binge watch some movies. (Marvel movies to be exact.) I picked up these extremely comfy clothes in a recent Charlotte Russe haul I posted last week. (Check it out here!) These leggings were so cheap but are such good quality. They are much thicker than I would’ve guessed they’d be, which is great in the winter and when you have shirts that may ride up and not cover enough (if you feel my drift). This shirt, however, covers the leggings perfectly. It comes down further in the front and the back. Also, the fabric is to die for. I live for shirts with this kind of fabric. They are so soft and perfect PJ shirts. The scarf is a really nice blanket material and super thick. I’ve been looking for another thick infinity scarf since I can’t seem to find my usual go-to scarf. I was clearly in an olive mood when I bought all these. I paired this outfit with my over the knee brown boots to add a bit of warmth to the outfit. These boots are extremely warm and comfy. I love how this outfit looks together and it was super comfy for a movie marathon!

Inside My Tea Cabinet

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I love me some tea! I have at least one glass of tea a day because it’s great for you and I love the taste. I have a few different varieties of tea that I like to keep on hand at all times. I wanted to show you which ones I like and why I can’t live without them!

Lipton Pure Green Tea 100% Natural

This is tea is a major part of my morning routine. I used to rely on coffee and energy drinks to get my morning boost but I found that they triggered my anxiety too much. Weening myself off of those highly caffeinated drinks was not an easy task. However, once I switch over to natural green tea, I found myself not missing them at all. I love the natural boost of caffeine that this tea gives me. I can’t go through my morning without it!

Traditional Medicinals Organic Chamomile with Lavender

This is my tea that I will normally choose after a stressful day or just winding down for the night. The chamomile and lavender are great for relaxing a busy mind. I love this tea if I’m needing a bit of calming down.

Pompadour Chamomile

This tea also contains chamomile but I use this one for an entirely different scenario. When I was younger, my dad always used to give me this tea when I had a sore throat or an upset stomach. Of course I was younger and not quite accustomed to the natural earthy taste of tea so he would sneak in some honey. When I have a sore throat now I prepare myself the same tea. I find it does a great job soothing my throat.

Traditional Medicinals Organic Roasted Dandelion Root

This last tea is one I’ve repurchased now again and again. Recently, the new trend is the detox teas that you see celebrities promoting all over the internet. I found my own, cheaper, version of their detox tea. Dandelion root is a great natural way to detox. I use this whenever I’ve maybe eaten too much (aka Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities) or when I’ve eaten not so healthy. I highly recommend this tea for those of you who want the effects of a big name brand detox tea but don’t want to spend the money.

What tea do you guys enjoy drinking? I’d love to try out some more this season, leave your suggestions below!

Wedding Wednesday – Wedding Day Hair

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

My hair for the big day was a big decision to make for me. Besides the dress, the second most important thing is definitely the hair. I always knew I wanted to wear my hair down on my wedding day. (I’ve been growing it out for years.) Though I knew I wanted it down, I needed to figure out how to have my hair down and not take away from the back of the dress. For those who missed it, check out my Wedding Wednesday – The Dress post to see pictures. Naturally, I immediately began searching Pinterest for the perfect style and of course I found it. I had my stylist curl all my hair and then pin it all to one side. I love the way it looked! It was absolutely perfect with my dress style.

I got my hair done at Salon Vici and I highly recommend them. Their salon is seriously the cutest and they do great work. I go there for all my cuts so of course I trusted them with my big day style. They did an amazing job!

My hairpiece came from Stacey’s Bridal, the shop where I purchased my dress. The piece added the much needed sparkle that was missing from my hair. It complimented my dress’s pendant so well. I’m really glad that I bought the hairpiece, especially because I didn’t do a veil.

All in all, I loved how my style turned out. It looked exactly like my inspiration picture but better with the hair piece! Let me know what style you want/had on your big day. Leave a comment below!

Christmas Party OOTD

Shirt : Forever 21  |  Skirt  : New York & Comapny  |  Heels : Nordstrom  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

‘Tis the season for holiday parties galore! I recently attended a company holiday party and thought I’d share my outfit for the night. We had a semi-formal dress code for the event so I didn’t go all out. I feel like this skirt classes up any top you pair it with. Also, the color is absolutely perfect for this time of year. I’m not big on the traditional red and green colors for Christmas so this burgundy is perfect. This top is great but be sure to wear something underneath. It’s a loose fit and sometimes gets a little too loose, if you catch my drift. The heels I paired it with were a lower heel than I’m accustomed to so they were perfect to wear all night. Luckily, it hasn’t snowed here yet this year so this was the perfect outfit for the occasion. Great night, great people, great fashion!

Sweater Weather OOTD

Thanksgiving Outfit.JPG

Sweater : Forever 21  |  Leggings : Forever 21  |  Shoes  : Boscovs (similar)  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

This is actually the outfit I wore on Thanksgiving (because you know I had to dress for comfort and style). My go-to fall/winter piece is always an over sized sweater. I love sweaters with turtlenecks because then you don’t have to worry about accessorizing it with a necklace. The best thing about this particular sweater is that there are no sleeves so you don’t have to worry about being too warm. Our Thanksgiving was a three hour drive (one way) so I made sure to dress in something extremely comfy and tolerable in the car. So, instead of opting for jeans, I threw on these adorable faux leather leggings. I live for these! I love playing with texture when it comes to fashion and leather is my absolute favorite. The leather helped dress up the outfit and give it the much needed ‘wow factor’ that jeans couldn’t. To complete the outfit I paired it with these gray leather boots. I loved how this outfit came together and it was absolutely perfect for the occasion!

What did you guys wear for Thanksgiving this year? I would love to see your posts!

Athletic Chic OOTD

Sweatshirt : Nike (similar)  |  Pants : Charlotte Russe  |  Shoes  : Nike  |

|  Hat : Charlotte Russe  |

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

When I’m not working, you can normally find me in an outfit similar to this. I love dressing comfy always so I’m definitely getting into this comfy chic trend that is all over the place nowadays. I don’t get too creative with my comfy outfits so these are my most reached for pieces. I absolutely love this sweatshirt. I basically live in this thing! I got it at a Nike outlet in Colorado, along with those murdered out shoes. (If it ain’t black, put it back on the rack.) When I want to dress these items up a bit more than just traditional leggings, I like throwing on these skinny jeans. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true comfy outfit for me if I didn’t throw on a hat. Knowing me, it’s probably hiding two or three day old hair. (It’s not as gross as it sounds, I promise.) You might recognize this hat from a recent Clothing Haul I posted, be sure to check it out here to see what else I got. This outfit is my perfect go-to when I’m out and about doing errands, meeting up with friends, or just hanging out with family. I’m definitely okay with this athletic chic trend and I hope it stays for a good long time!

What do you guys think of this trend?

Clothing Haul

Clothing Haul.JPG

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Online shopping to way too dangerous. It makes it way too easy to get just what I’m looking for (and often times more than what is in the shops here locally). I just picked up a few pieces from Charlotte Russe and Target that I’m really enjoying so far! Let’s start off easy with Target.

1.JPG

Moon Tee

This brand is beginning to be my favorite new thing. This is the same brand as my Nam-a-stay In Bed shirt and they are so incredibly soft and comfortable. I saw this super cute geometric lunar shirt and had to get it! (If it ain’t black, put it back on the rack. Am I right?)

2

Cut Out Sweater

Speaking of “If it ain’t black, put it back on the rack”. This sweater is so cozy and I love the shoulder cut outs. They make the perfect accent to this piece and give it more life than a plain black sweater.

3

Olive Football Tee

Switching over to Charlotte Russe, I picked up this tee in hopes that the material is similar to the moon shirt I picked up from Target! And it does feel the same! So comfy and very flattering. Perfect cozy shirt and can easily be dressed up.

4

Black Ankle Booties

I have been in desperate need of some black booties! I have been wearing my camel booties constantly this fall and black makes everything look better.

5

White Off The Shoulder Top

I picked this adorable top up to wear to any upcoming bridal events or the day after the wedding brunch with everyone. I thought this top would be adorable with blush high waisted jeans. I’m so excited to wear this!

6

Plain Baseball Hat

This hat is much more gray than it appears online. You also can’t really see the fabric well online, the satin must not photograph well. Other than that, I really enjoy this hat. It’s great for third day hair that is just not cooperating and you still want to have that comfy chic look.

I’m excited to break these out and start wearing them. Look forward to some OOTD posts in the near future! If there are any specific pieces you want to see, let me know down below in the comments!

Shirt : Target  |  Pants : Charlotte Russe  |  Heels  : Charlotte Russe  |

Hat : Nordstrom Rack  |  Flannel : Forever 21

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

This weekend I wanted to play around with fall looks that incorporate lots of pattern and texture. I loved this super comfy outfit. It looks well put together and fashion forward while still allowing yourself to wear leggings and a big comfy tee. I love looks like this and they are normally my go-to outfits. I picked up this hat at Nordstrom Rack this past week and needed to find an outfit to wear it with immediately. Super cute! I’m very glad I purchased it and I think I’ll get lots of use out of it! (And I think the little one likes it too!)

Lush Products Review

008.JPG

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I wanted to pop in and update you on how my Lush products were going since I hauled those a month or two ago. This post is going to be split down the middle, sadly, because one of the products I’m in love with and the other is…just not for me. It’s a real bummer too because both of these products were so hyped up by everyone who owns them. So, let’s jump into it!

009.JPG

Retread

This conditioner, for those who don’t know, I have been using as an intensive hair mask before washing my hair. I use it just about every time I wash my hair and it took no time for people to notice! It is fantastic and makes my hair so smooth and silky. It diminishes the damaging look that my hair truly has (I’m waiting until after the wedding to chop it off). I love this product and have nothing bad to say about it. I got the larger tub and have been using it for a couple months and I’ve barely made a dent. This is also coming from a girl with extremely long and thick hair. Love it!

Mask of Magnaminty

I know, I know! Occult favorite! I tried so hard to like this product. I used it once weekly, three times weekly, before showers, after showers. Nothing worked. Every time I used this product, it would break me out. And I’m not talking about a spot here or there; but, multiple of those pesky small whiteheads. Enough of them to deter me away from using the product. I’m not sure what everyone else sees in this product but my face is not on board with it. I’ve tried my hardest to make it work but I’m just going to have to give it to a friend or family member. There’s no way I can finish the rest of it!

Let me know your thoughts! Did I just get a bad batch? Is the self-preserving version not as good as the original? I’m curious about your thoughts on these products!

My Pamper Routine

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Friday seemed like the perfect day to write this post so everyone can find at least an hour this weekend to pamper themselves. You don’t have to do ALL of these things, but I do recommend taking some time once a week and doing SOME of them. Getting a little ‘me’ time in will help melt away the stresses of everyday life. Keep reading to find out what I like to do every week to pamper myself a bit. Because YOU’RE WORTH IT 🙂

Remove Makeup and Get Into Comfy Clothes – Goes without saying that after I get home from a busy week at work I immediately shed my clothes at the door and swap them out for oversized comfy clothes.

Grab a Glass of Wine (or drink of your choice) – I prefer wine to help me relax but the decision is totally up to you!

Pluck Pesky Eyebrow Hairs – Once I’m comfy and have my wine I like to start getting down to business. Get rid of the annoying little brow hairs that may have popped up during the week always gives me a sense of satisfaction (anyone else?).

Apply Your Favorite Face Mask – After plucking and cleansing my face, I like to put a face mask on. Most of the time I’ll multi-mask. I have been trying out the Lush Mask of Magnaminty (stay tuned to hear my thoughts) so I’ll put that all over my face besides my nose. On my nose I’ll opt for a pore strip.

Apply Your Favorite Hair Mask – Multi-masking doesn’t just stop at the face! I’ll pop in a hair mask as well. (I actually do a hair mask before EVERY time I wash my hair, just to keep my hair from looking dull and dead.) Lush’s Retread hair mask/conditioner has been doing wonders for my hair. Honestly, I have had a couple people ask me what I’m doing differently with my hair.

Nice Hot Shower / Bath – Once I’ve left all my masks on for their allotted time (I normally go for about 30 minutes), I’ll jump in the shower. I’m not a bath girl, never have been and never will be. When I’m in the shower I’ll shave my legs, among doing all the other usual shower essentials. Trust me, you’ll want to shave too for the end results….

Moisturize – Such an important step that I NEVER forget. Especially after shaving my legs, I’ll make sure I use a basic lotion before I go in with my self-tanning lotion (to avoid irritation).

At Home Manicure – I like to keep up with my nails, even if I decide not to add a new coat of polish on that week. I like to go in and clean up my cuticles. For some reason, my cuticles get so dry and out of control if I don’t keep up on them. So I like to clean them up and then add a bit of coconut oil to them for moisture.

Vaseline to the Rescue – After my nails are dry, I like to apply a decent amount of Vaseline on my feet and slip on some comfy socks! My feet feel baby soft the next morning!

Freshen Up the Bed Sheets – Remember when I told you to shave your legs? Now you get it, don’t you? You’re welcome. 🙂

Relax – Light a candle, curl up in bed, read a book, and just relax!
