I’m young and haven’t experienced too much so there is a huge laundry list of things I want to experience and places I want to go. I hope to achieve them all with time and, as you’ll see, some are much more achievable than others. New Year’s Resolutions / Goals

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Happy New Year everyone! Naturally, one of the first posts of 2017 needed to be my resolutions/goals. I’m very excited to share with you what I’m looking to get out of this New Year! If you read my How To Make Realistic New Year’s Resolutions blog, you know my opinions on these goals that people set. Keep reading to see what I’m looking forward to doing this year!

Work on my blog

I would love to start blogging more frequently throughout the week. I would eventually love to work up to every day of the week. Along with blogging more I want to put more time into my other social media outlets and really make it all a well-oiled machine. I know this will definitely be the hardest and most time consuming goal but it’s also the one that gets me the most excited!

Cook more meals at home

My husband and I did WAY too much eating out last year. It’s just so hard to come home after a long day and find the time to plan out meals and actually cook. However, this year, I would love to get better on meal planning to make it easier on the both of us.

Travel Somewhere New – even if it’s a weekend getaway

There is so much of the world that I haven’t seen and I want to get out there and experience new things. You don’t need to go halfway around the world to experience new things so I think this is a feasible goal for me this year and definitely excites me! I’ve definitely been eyeing Airbnb for a while and love the idea of traveling like this. I think we will definitely be using that site this year for cheap travel!

How To Make Realistic New Year’s Resolutions

Most New Year’s resolutions are abandoned before January is even over! Isn’t that crazy!? I know I’ve made my fair share of resolutions that I didn’t follow through on. That fact is why I’ve stopped making resolutions and started making goals. You might be asking, “What’s the difference between resolutions and goals?” Really, not much besides the fact that goals are often more loosely structured and less intimidating than resolutions. I want to share with you today how exactly to make your resolutions achievable this coming year. Let’s make 2017 the best year yet!

Don’t be too specific

Most of the time, people get a little too specific with their goals. This often makes them less achievable. If your resolution is to weigh a certain amount by the summer, or get a certain amount of a raise this year, or to move to a certain destination then your resolutions may be too far out of reach. Strive to set goals instead. Make a goal just to lose weight, to just get a raise this year, or to not be afraid to take the chance of moving if the opportunity presents itself.

Don’t choose resolutions that are life changing

Stray away from resolutions that are so out of reach that you have to change the way you live your life. Don’t make resolutions that involve a large life milestone (finding a husband, purchasing a home, having a baby) before the end of the year. Let life take you on the path you were meant to be on. Making large resolutions that disrupt how you live your everyday life never end well. Make sure you are prepared and have a well thought out plan to these events.

Don’t be unrealistic

Of course, we all want to be the best self we can be; but, don’t make resolutions that are seemingly unrealistic. Don’t make resolutions to eat at a new restaurant every week to broaden your horizons if you don’t have the funds, don’t make a resolution to lose twenty pounds when you don’t already work out or eat clean, don’t make resolutions to travel the world when you’ve never traveled before. Everything in moderation.

These tips seem ridiculously easy but they often are forgotten when people are making their New Year’s resolutions. I hope you all keep these tips in mind and get good use out of them. You’ll be much happier with yourself at the end of the year once you’ve accomplished your realistic resolutions/goals. What are your resolutions for 2017? Leave a comment below!

September 2016 Goals

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

How is it already September? I feel like I blinked and poof! August, gone. I’m not too terribly worried about it because I’m definitely enjoying the cooler temperatures. Fall time is the best time! With September here already, I decided to do something new! I saw a couple bloggers do a post similar to this last month and thought it was a great idea. Reading their blogs definitely inspired me to create some goals of my own and I think it would be great to be able to go back at the end of the month (or year) and see if I followed through on my goals! So, let’s get into what I would like to achieve this month.

Focus On Blogging More

Over the past couple of months, I started this new blogging journey and I realized that I really liked it! I’m creative at my full time job every day; but, there is something about writing that I’ve always enjoyed. I would really like to continue this journey and work on posting more content. For the past couple of weeks I have realized this fact and have been trying to post 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). In September, I would like to continue posting 3 times a week and see if I can even put out a few more posts a week! I really enjoy writing about all the things I am passionate about and getting to interact with such creative people is amazing.

Take More Quiet Time

I’ve begun to realize that most every waking moment of my life is filled with noise. At work we jam to music constantly and even at home we have music or the TV going at all times. I really want to slow down and get rid of some noise in my life. I’ve started this by turning the music off in my car on my commute to work. This really helps me just breathe and be alone with my thoughts. I would like to incorporate more of this quiet time in my home life. Maybe reading before bed instead of watching TV? What are some ways you guys incorporate more quiet time in your life?

Get In Wedding Shape

I know this will definitely NOT happen all within the month of September. But, September officially marks one year until the big day so I thought there would be no better time to start. My goal is to really just eat healthier and start getting on a more routine workout schedule. Maybe incorporating some more outdoor activities would help me achieve my second and third goal?

So, there it is! Not too many big goals here but I think they will all have a positive impact on my life. I’m really excited to try this out.
