We Are Officially Homeowners

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Guys, am I really posting this right now? I can’t believe this moment is finally here. I am so excited to officially announce that we are homeowners! What!? Where did my childhood go? Who let me adult? Who cares, I own a house! I’m so incredibly excited and grateful that my husband and I could pursue this big milestone. We are beyond ready to start making this house a home and you can tell our four legged friends are pumped about the whole ordeal as well.

And before you ask, this house may have multiple bedrooms but that by NO MEANS suggests that there will be any need to fill them. So stay out of here with that baby talk!

A big thank you to all the people who helped us along the way. We really were children going into this with no concept of how this process works or any of the changes in the transition from renting to owning. Of course, with a big life change like this, I’ll be writing many posts about the process for the months to come so stay tuned!

For those who don’t know or those who are new, I’m a full time interior designer so I’m more than ready to sink my claws into this project! Leave me a comment below and let me know if you’d like to see before/after pictures as we design our home!

Blanket Ladder Shelf Wrap Up

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

If you ever wondered if I find my own play on words amusing, the answer is yes! But seriously, this blanket ladder shelf makes wrapping up in a cozy blanket all the more enticing and chic. These ladder shelves are so on trend right now throughout the design community. You know I had to get my hands on one of these! The best part is, I have a very good imagination and a handy husband. We built this piece ourselves and had a blast doing it!

Our home was needing something extra to fill this awkward gap we have in our living room. I have been eyeing some super cute ladder shelves for a while now; so, I finally decided to pull the trigger and build my own! They’re a design friendly way to display blankets in living or bedrooms, towels in bathrooms, or even scarves in your bedroom, if you’re like me and have stupid crazy amount of scarves. These shelves are great to use throughout your home and can serve so many purposes! It’s a great way to shake up the design of your home without needing to purchase anything down the road. If you get tired of where you have it, you can move it and completely change its purpose. It always blows my mind how little closet space homes have; but, you won’t need to worry about hiding your items in closets when you can display them this easily and beautifully!

With our moving date soon approaching, I’m excited to see where this piece will find its place in our new home. Leave me a comment down below and tell me what you use your ladder shelf for!

My Dream Home Office

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I hope you all are having a wonderful day! I’m back with the fifth installment of this working girls week. I wanted today to give you all some inspiration for your office, be it at the office or at home. I’m sharing with you today some of my dream office designs. All of these images came from a wonderful little obsession of mine (Pinterest). If you haven’t checked out my Pinterest, be sure and do so to check out what other neat ideas I’ve stumbled upon!

I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, another dark and dramatic space! How original! Didn’t see that coming.” But hey, I know what I like. I’m just here to share it with all of you. 🙂

Dark, dark, dark. For all the work I do at home, I’m hardly ever doing anything besides typing away on my laptop. There’s no need for a light and airy space since I’m just staring into a bright screen all day/night. I love the dark tones, bold pops of metals & colors, and striking patterns. I think built-in shelving adds a great wow factor and allows for lots of storage (or in my case, lots of shelves to accessorize). It’ll definitely be my little sanctuary and truly inspiring space to create in. A girl can dream right? 😉

Color Me Impressed x Arhaus

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Recently I was challenged by Arhaus to create my dream living room using whatever products I’d like. As an interior designer, you could ask me any given day and I could describe just what that dream space looks like to me. When I started thinking about this project, I visited their website and found many of the pieces I had been dreaming about. So, today I’m sharing my dream living room using all Arhaus products. If you’re an avid reader of mine, you’ll remember how I’ve been crushing on navy and pungent blues lately. I found some really great pops of this color within their line and I’m head over heels! My dream living room is a lush and chic blend. I don’t dabble with too much color, other than this bright punch of blue. I love to rely on metals & textures to speak more than color. You’ll see a huge influence of golds used throughout the space and I must say that it was all inspired by these jaw dropping sheer gold metallic curtains. They’re so unique and I’m obsessed.

I am relatively new to this brand but I must say that their selection is wide and their products are gorgeous! I fell in love with a few of these pieces I used today so I’ll be sure to leave their information linked in this post. Be sure to check out this brand and shop ‘til you drop! If you want to design your own dream living room be sure to check out their living room page to be sure you don’t miss out on anything! (For all you ladies out there on a budget, check out their clearance for some of their great pieces for cheaper.)

Bedroom Décor Poll – Help!

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

With a moving date on the calendar for later this year, I’ve got a major itch to redecorate with the moving transition. I know my overall colors and theme I want to achieve but as an interior designer by profession, I’m exposed to many different styles every day. My main problem is that I fall in love with so many different style and aesthetics. I need your help to decide which way I should go with my new décor!

Tumblr Inspired Haven

If this style doesn’t scream Tumblr, then I don’t know what does. I love the bold navy accent wall and darker accents used throughout.

Light & Glam Oasis

This look so elegant and light and airy. I love the idea of using all neutral lighter tones and then using navy only in the accents as a stark bold punch of color.

Now that you’ve seen my two inspiration rooms, tell me what you think! Leave me a comment below and help me decide which way I should go!

Dream Kitchen Inspiration

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Do you remember last month when I shared Great Room Inspiration? That was such a big hit that I decided to bring it back this month and share my kitchen inspiration. I think you’ll notice a lot of similarities between the two aesthetically. I definitely know what I like! Being in this industry certainly immerses me in many different styles so I’ve grown to know what I personally lean toward in my own home. Here are a few of the major things I look for in my dream kitchen.

Waterfall Edge

No matter what, I’m definitely going to need a large gorgeous island with a waterfall edge countertop. It’s non-negotiable at this point. I’m so glad my hubby is on board with this look because, to me, nothing looks more luxurious than a waterfall edge.

Dark Hues

Dark floors and dark cabinets. I love them both. Why pick between the two when I can have both? I love the crisp and edgy look it gives the kitchen. With the proper lighting, it won’t look dreary and dark. I’m partial to the Calcutta marble looking countertops so that will be the source of brightness to bounce light around the kitchen.

Bold Backsplashes

Since most of my tastes are more simplistic and plain, I love the idea of adding a pop of accent to the backsplash. There are so many great metallic tiles out there that I’m in love with. Only time will tell which backsplash I can convince my hubby into getting!

Modern Fixtures

From sink faucets to the light fixtures and all the way down to the cabinet hardware. Modern everything! By no means am I a traditional kind of girl. I love my modern touches.

I hope you liked a little inside look on my dream kitchen. Leave a comment below of something you want in your dream kitchen!
