Sorting Through My Wardrobe

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

With the New Year, I wanted to do a little something different in order to sort through my wardrobe. I’ve been blessed with many more clothes than I need or even wear. Normally every year or two I go through my wardrobe and donate a box or two of clothes I don’t need. I donated a pretty substantial amount last month and wanted to try out a new method of sorting through my wardrobe this year. I got this idea off of Pinterest, where all good ideas come from, and wanted to give it a go! I turned all of my hooks around at the first of the year so they’re all facing backwards. Every time I wear something I’ll take it out and put it back on the hanger the correct way. This will help me see at the end of the year what I’m actually wearing and what I haven’t touched. I love this idea! Along with showing me what I don’t wear, I’m thinking that it will motivate me to wear things I haven’t touched. My closet is so packed that a lot of the time I can’t see the entirety of my closet. The hangers will help draw attention to the items I don’t normally gravitate towards.

I’ll keep you guys updated throughout the year and, of course, the end of the year when I make my donation. I’m super pumped to rediscover all the clothes in my own closet! It’s a fun game for me and will eventually do good for those who need these items more than me.

Where is your go-to donation center? I normally gravitate towards Goodwill but I’m thinking about looking into a youth or women’s shelter this year. Let me know down below where you like to donate!

New Year’s Resolutions / Goals

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Happy New Year everyone! Naturally, one of the first posts of 2017 needed to be my resolutions/goals. I’m very excited to share with you what I’m looking to get out of this New Year! If you read my How To Make Realistic New Year’s Resolutions blog, you know my opinions on these goals that people set. Keep reading to see what I’m looking forward to doing this year!

Work on my blog

I would love to start blogging more frequently throughout the week. I would eventually love to work up to every day of the week. Along with blogging more I want to put more time into my other social media outlets and really make it all a well-oiled machine. I know this will definitely be the hardest and most time consuming goal but it’s also the one that gets me the most excited!

Cook more meals at home

My husband and I did WAY too much eating out last year. It’s just so hard to come home after a long day and find the time to plan out meals and actually cook. However, this year, I would love to get better on meal planning to make it easier on the both of us.

Travel Somewhere New – even if it’s a weekend getaway

There is so much of the world that I haven’t seen and I want to get out there and experience new things. You don’t need to go halfway around the world to experience new things so I think this is a feasible goal for me this year and definitely excites me! I’ve definitely been eyeing Airbnb for a while and love the idea of traveling like this. I think we will definitely be using that site this year for cheap travel!

Comment down below what your resolutions/goals are for this year! Let’s all keep each other motivated!

Fool Proof Hangover Cure

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I thought New Year’s Day would be a great opportunity to re-post this handy little blog to help everyone out. New Year’s tends to get a little crazy so let me help you start off on the right foot in 2017. Try out some, or all, of these times to get started on your best year yet!

Water

Obviously. Your body needs water after all the alcohol you guzzled down the night before. You really should drink a large glass of water first thing every morning; but, be sure you especially don’t skip this step when you wake up hungover.

Medicate

Pop a couple ibuprofen or take an Advil to get the healing started.

Banana

I know it probably sounds disgusting at the time. Your body doesn’t NEED the unhealthy greasy breakfast that you know you’re craving, it NEEDS the potassium. Save the calories, eat a banana.

Tea

A warm cup of tea always eases my stomach when it is upset. When I’m hungover, I opt for my detoxifying tea. I use the Roasted Dandelion Root from Traditional Medicinals. It’s a great organic detox tea (little earthy for those not accustomed). You won’t see all the celebrities promoting it but it still works just the same. Drink a cup of tea to help ease your stomach and prepare for the next step…

Get Moving – Work Out

It’s going to sound awful and the exact opposite of what you want to do but I promise you will feel so much better once it’s all said and done. Sweat out all the left over toxins in your body. You could go on a long walk, run on the treadmill, or just do a little in home ab work. Really it’s all up to you, but I promise you’ll feel a million times better after.

After these steps, you’ll feel back to normal. The best part is that this process will take only a couple hours and they’ll save the rest of your day! Try this out next time you’re feeling a little under the weather and let me know how it goes!

How To Make Realistic New Year’s Resolutions

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Most New Year’s resolutions are abandoned before January is even over! Isn’t that crazy!? I know I’ve made my fair share of resolutions that I didn’t follow through on. That fact is why I’ve stopped making resolutions and started making goals. You might be asking, “What’s the difference between resolutions and goals?” Really, not much besides the fact that goals are often more loosely structured and less intimidating than resolutions. I want to share with you today how exactly to make your resolutions achievable this coming year. Let’s make 2017 the best year yet!

Don’t be too specific

Most of the time, people get a little too specific with their goals. This often makes them less achievable. If your resolution is to weigh a certain amount by the summer, or get a certain amount of a raise this year, or to move to a certain destination then your resolutions may be too far out of reach. Strive to set goals instead. Make a goal just to lose weight, to just get a raise this year, or to not be afraid to take the chance of moving if the opportunity presents itself.

Don’t choose resolutions that are life changing

Stray away from resolutions that are so out of reach that you have to change the way you live your life. Don’t make resolutions that involve a large life milestone (finding a husband, purchasing a home, having a baby) before the end of the year. Let life take you on the path you were meant to be on. Making large resolutions that disrupt how you live your everyday life never end well. Make sure you are prepared and have a well thought out plan to these events.

Don’t be unrealistic

Of course, we all want to be the best self we can be; but, don’t make resolutions that are seemingly unrealistic. Don’t make resolutions to eat at a new restaurant every week to broaden your horizons if you don’t have the funds, don’t make a resolution to lose twenty pounds when you don’t already work out or eat clean, don’t make resolutions to travel the world when you’ve never traveled before. Everything in moderation.

These tips seem ridiculously easy but they often are forgotten when people are making their New Year’s resolutions. I hope you all keep these tips in mind and get good use out of them. You’ll be much happier with yourself at the end of the year once you’ve accomplished your realistic resolutions/goals. What are your resolutions for 2017? Leave a comment below!
