Skincare & Beauty Haul

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

One of my New Years resolutions this year was to spend more money and time on skincare as opposed to makeup. I’ve been doing my research and sorting through recommendations to constantly better my skincare routine. I really think I have some great products in my first haul of the year. Also, props to me for not going skincare crazy until the end of March. The self-restraint is real! Here’s a peak in my Sephora and Ulta haul.

LaVanila Sport Luxe Deodorant

This came as a recommendation from a good friend of mine after she taught me about what is really in all those generic deodorants. (It is not a pretty visual.) I’d recommend looking into the ingredients and their effects on the human body (especially the ta-ta’s). This deodorant smells amazing and has been working very well so far. I’m excited to keep trying it out!

Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips

Just restocking on my fav pore strips. Nothing new here!

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Lifting Neck Cream

In Ulta I was actually debating between buying this or one of Mario Badescu’s neck creams. I ultimately decided on Mario Badescu’s but I got this as a free gift! Maybe doing a battle of the neck creams? I’ve heard great things about both so I can’t imagine a scenario where I’m disappointed in either!

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, & Rosewater

If you read my recent post about my Beauty Empties, you will recognize this little bottle. I didn’t realize how much I missed having this until I ran out. I really noticed a difference. It’s great when you want a little hydration. I highly recommend checking it out.

NYX HD Concealer

Restocking my usual concealer so nothing crazy!

NYX Angel Veil Primer

I decided to give this a try. I will admit, YouTube made me buy it. More specifically, Kathleen made me buy it. I’ll keep you updated as I get a chance to try this out for a while.

Mario Badescu Vitamin A-D-E Neck Cream

Here is the other neck cream I decided on. I missed this product in my routine. I’m glad to get back on the neck cream train. It’s never too early to start age defying products.

Sephora Honey Lip Scrub

I’ve been in the market for a lip exfoliant and the fact that this one came in a stick, so I wouldn’t have to use my fingers, really intrigued me. I’ll keep you all updated!

Not Your Mother’s Beat The Heat Thermal Shield Spray

If you read my Beauty Empties post, you’ll know that I recently ran out of my old Tresemme heat protectant and didn’t really enjoy it. I’m hoping to fall in love with this new product!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried one of these and what your thoughts are!

Clothing Haul

Clothing Haul.JPG

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Online shopping to way too dangerous. It makes it way too easy to get just what I’m looking for (and often times more than what is in the shops here locally). I just picked up a few pieces from Charlotte Russe and Target that I’m really enjoying so far! Let’s start off easy with Target.

1.JPG

Moon Tee

This brand is beginning to be my favorite new thing. This is the same brand as my Nam-a-stay In Bed shirt and they are so incredibly soft and comfortable. I saw this super cute geometric lunar shirt and had to get it! (If it ain’t black, put it back on the rack. Am I right?)

2

Cut Out Sweater

Speaking of “If it ain’t black, put it back on the rack”. This sweater is so cozy and I love the shoulder cut outs. They make the perfect accent to this piece and give it more life than a plain black sweater.

3

Olive Football Tee

Switching over to Charlotte Russe, I picked up this tee in hopes that the material is similar to the moon shirt I picked up from Target! And it does feel the same! So comfy and very flattering. Perfect cozy shirt and can easily be dressed up.

4

Black Ankle Booties

I have been in desperate need of some black booties! I have been wearing my camel booties constantly this fall and black makes everything look better.

5

White Off The Shoulder Top

I picked this adorable top up to wear to any upcoming bridal events or the day after the wedding brunch with everyone. I thought this top would be adorable with blush high waisted jeans. I’m so excited to wear this!

6

Plain Baseball Hat

This hat is much more gray than it appears online. You also can’t really see the fabric well online, the satin must not photograph well. Other than that, I really enjoy this hat. It’s great for third day hair that is just not cooperating and you still want to have that comfy chic look.

I’m excited to break these out and start wearing them. Look forward to some OOTD posts in the near future! If there are any specific pieces you want to see, let me know down below in the comments!

Shopping Haul – Target, Ulta, Michael’s

1.JPG

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I definitely satisfied my shopping itch this weekend. My wallet isn’t happy, but I am! Like most people, Target always gets the best of me. This haul is definitely an odd mixture of all things décor, clothing, and beauty so let’s just get into it!

Firstly, this shirt…omg it is made of the comfiest material ever. I purchased it this weekend and I’ve already worn it. It’s super cute and super comfortable. This shirt will definitely be one of the most used in my collection and who can argue with that price? Am I right? Target you don’t disappoint.

Cat owners will understand this next purchase. I’ve been needing a jewelry tray to put my ring and earrings in at night. Whenever I put them loosely on my night stand, I’ll wake up to find that my cat took them and hid them…This tray is super cute and I loved the metal mixed with glass.

I was in desperate need of a mascara so I decided to try out a Wet N Wild mascara to add to my cruelty free products. So far, I’m not disappointed! I can’t tell if that is because this mascara actually rocks or if my old mascara was soooo beyond done that anything looks better. I’ll keep you updated.

I picked up two more bottles of the Batiste Dark & Deep Brown dry shampoo because I go through these things like nobody’s business! I like the brunette version much better than the original due to the fact that I don’t have to worry about brushing out the white cast.

I’ve wanted to try out these blushes ever since I saw Casey Holmes rave about them. So I picked up Wet N Wild’s Color Icon Ombre Blush in Mai Tai Buy You A Drink. I’m excited to try this out! I bought it at Target but can only seem to find the purple blush on their website? So I linked the actual color from Wet N Wild.

I couldn’t resist picking up another darker nude liquid lipstick and I’ve been meaning to try the new NYX Lip Lingerie line (mine is in the color Push Up). Dark nudes are definitely my go to year round.

I’m always looking to get my hands on a backup eyebrow pencil. So naturally, I had to pick up some more of my ash brown!

I’ve been looking for a good set of cute letters to display. I’m not quite sure where they’re going to be displayed yet but I love the color and material of these. I just had to have them!

New Hair Care Products

003

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Today I wanted to talk to you about a couple new products I picked up recently to try out. My shampoo and conditioner are getting low; so, while I was out buying backups, I decided to try out these two beauties. I’m super excited to dive into these. I’ve heard nothing but good things about OGX so I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. My hair is in a desperate need of a trim so any extra life I can put back into my hair, the better. While in the OGX section of the store, I decided to try out the Coconut Milk Shampoo and the Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner. I didn’t want to commit fully to one or the other (coconut milk vs argan oil) so I decided to go with one of each. The main reasons I finally gravitated towards these are due to the fact they’re sulfate free and cruelty free. YAY! More cruelty free products to add to my arsenal! I’m itching to give these two a go and once I do, I’ll be sure to let you know my thoughts.

Have any of you used these products or any products by OGX? Have you enjoyed them? Let me know below.

Hot Spot : Colorado Hidden Gem

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Let’s talk about this gorgeous historic town that is WAY under appreciated. Georgetown is a cute little town tucked away in a small valley along i-70. Whenever we drive by, we make sure we pop into Georgetown for some shopping and sweets! Georgetown Valley Candy Factory gives me life. I can’t go to Colorado without picking up some amazing sweets at this cute little shop. The one thing that always tempts me the most is their fudge. OMG…I can’t describe how good it is. However, this time around, I decided a scoop of their Rocky Road would suffice my sweet tooth. Once we grab a cone (and whatever other goodies we were tempted into buying) we take to the shops! There are a few tourist shops that sell the generic shirts, mugs, whatever that EVERY store sells. However, there are also many stores there that are owned by amazing artists and families that sell some pretty unique stuff. I love looking through the Railroad Art by Scotty and Santa Fe Trail Jewelry stores for some truly unique pieces. Although I could never afford any of the pieces they sell, I’m a big supporter of local artisans. The thing I love about this town is the history in all of the buildings. Besides normal upkeep, it looks as though the town has not been touched since the 1800’s. And all of the family owned businesses give it the truly small town feel which I love. It’s definitely one of my go-to’s whenever in the area. When you are in the area next, be sure to stop by (even if it is just window shopping).

Fitness Haul

Capture.JPG

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Unknowingly, I turned my vacation shopping into kind of a fitness haul. I’m not sure how that happened but when a sports store is going out of business and everything is 90% off, things happen. And nothing motivates me to work out more than new toys to play with! Which, it’s about time I got off my booty and got myself into wedding day shape. This haul happened none too soon! Apparently Sports Authority is going out of business (which was news to me) so we stopped there first and picked up some odds and ends. I picked up a waist trainer to try out because they are all over social media and I had to jump on board with trying out the fad. It’s not the corseted super complex waist trainer that’s going to rearrange my organs by any means; but, it’s just enough to help target stubborn areas. I also picked up a light set of dumbbells for my place so I can do more of my workouts at home. I’m not looking to become a body builder by any means, (Clearly. I mean these dumbbells are microscopic.) I’m just looking to tone. So this set is perfect for my needs. After we exhausted Sports Authority, we were on a fitness streak and headed over to a Nike outlet store nearby. I was in DESPERATE need of new tennis shoes (my last pair has survived for over 6 years so YAY but now they can be great knock around shoes). So, I picked up some new Nike Free 5.0 TR Fit 5 shoes. They are a different style than I’m used to but I’m beginning to really enjoy them! They’re very flexible and super lightweight. (The murdered out all black look is definitely a bonus for me too.) Lastly, I snagged this super cute hoodie. I don’t think I’ll work out in it by any means, but it’s super cute and lightweight. May be a good cover up to and from the gym? Either way, I broke out most all of these items the second I got this home! I’m super excited to continue using these throughout my fitness journey!
