Where I’ve Been

Hello you, and welcome (back) to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

I’ve missed you guys so much! This month has seriously been one of the most hectic rollercoasters to date. I haven’t been able to put as much time and effort towards blogging as I’d like to but I’m here to tell you that this break is coming to an end. I’ve got some upcoming posts that I’m excited for you guys to see! More to come later this week about that but for now, let’s recap what’s been going on in my life this month.

Work, work, work. (For those who don’t know, I do have a full time job as an interior designer.) Seriously been putting in those overtime hours. We have been getting more work than I thought we could handle! I’ve got a pretty great group of ladies I work with, thank goodness because I don’t know how we would handle all we’ve taken on without each and every one.

RIP. I lost my precious little cutie this month which put a bit of a damper on my mood. It wasn’t really something I wanted to be reflected in my posts and my creativity took a bit of a dive as well. It’s all for the best though and it’s all part of a bigger plan.

Adulting. Something I’m not too great at but something that’s quite fun at the same time. My husband and I have been spending quite some time figuring out where we want to go after our lease ends. Turns out it’s more complicated than it sounds (who would’ve thought haha). We are now facing the tough decision of whether or not to buy a home at this point. If you have any advice, I’d love to hear it in the comments below.

I hope this caught you up to speed as to where I’ve been this month. I definitely want to say a big thank you to every single one of you who have stuck around and put up with my absence. You are all amazing! 🙂

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer.

Obsessive Compulsive Designer is officially turning 1 year old today and I’m beyond excited. I cannot believe that it’s been a whole year since I started this journey. I’m so thankful for every one of you who read my posts and follow me. I can’t begin to thank you all enough for the wonderful words and support this past year. I have really enjoyed this hobby and will continue for as long as you all are willing to listen to my ramblings. 🙂

Today I wanted to share one of my all-time favorite posts I have published this past year. Coincidentally, it has been one of your favorites as well! My outfit post in Girl’s Shopping Trip OOTD has been one of my most searched & interacted with posts, and for good reason. It’s one of my favorite outfit posts I’ve ever featured on here. It gets me so motivated to post more fashion posts! I love putting together outfits for you guys and showing you how to style certain pieces.

Again, I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all you lovely people! You all inspire me so much and get me so motivated to get creative in all aspects of my life. I love you all! 🙂

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

I’ve been nominated by the lovely Janeanna at Beauty and the Flawed for the One Lovely Blog Award! She is one of the sweetest girls and her blog is so interesting. She writes about all things fashion, beauty, and lifestyle. I love how she switches it up and doesn’t define herself by a single niche, it definitely keeps it interesting! So thank you so much sweetie and keep up the good writing. This was a fun award to complete!

The rules:

  • Thank the person that nominated you and leave a link to their blog.
  • Post about the award.
  • Share 7 facts about yourself.

Blogger Recognition Award

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

One of the things I love about the blogging community is how everyone builds each other up. It’s such a great thing to see happen, especially with women. Thank you so much Jules at Blonde’s Tea ,  Lean Sixteen , and Brenna at Crochet539 for this amazing award. I love the concept of this award because it acknowledges great bloggers while helping out other bloggers with great advice from a variety of people.

The rules for the Blogger Recognition Award:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  2. Write a post to show your award
  3. Give a brief story of how your blog started
  4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers
  5. Select 15 other bloggers for this award
  6. Comment on each blog to let them know you nominated them and link to the post you created.

The story of my blog

This may get quite redundant for those who have read my Why I Started Blogging post so I’ll give you the short version here. I had a droning job that required no creativity on my part and as a creative individual I found myself looking for an outlet. I’ve never been one for the camera but have always enjoyed writing so blogging seemed like the perfect outlet!

Advice for new bloggers

  1. Interaction. It seems silly or time not well spent but I promise it makes a huge difference. Liking and commenting on other bloggers posts will help you build a strong community with those in your niche. Making connections and friendships will really help you build your blog and you’ll meet so many great people from around the world.
  2. Natural Lighting. For pictures, no matter what camera you are using, the lighting is the key to good photography. Make sure you plan out when you’re taking pictures so you can best utilize the natural lighting.

Wedding Wednesday – Thank You Tips & Tricks

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

After your wedding festivities, you’re going to be exhausted. One of the most exhausting tasks is writing out all of the thank you’s to your guests. Anything you can do prior to the big day to help you in the end, I highly recommend doing to help yourself out. I wanted to share a few tips and tricks to make the long process of thank you’s a little more tolerable.

Address thank you’s when addressing invites

I cannot stress enough how much easier this is than having to keep track of a log of every gift you get along with the corresponding address. Your exhausted self be so appreciative of this after the wedding. I highly recommend doing this! It’ll take a little more time up front to write out the addresses on both envelopes but it will save more time and headache in the long run.

Get a stamp for your address

Etsy sells some great custom stamps that you can order to save your hand a bit of hurting. Getting a stamp with your names and addresses is a great idea if you’re in a home that you know you’ll stay in for years to come. That is why we opted out of it, since we are still in an apartment. But I recommend this if you have a large guest list or already in a more long-term home.

Get guest list printed on the envelopes by the company

We ordered all of our invites and thank you’s from Minted. They are an amazing company all around. If you would like to know more, check out my post all about these items. They offer the choice of printing out the guest list on your invites. We did this because it was included in the price of our invites! So great!

Slow down and make the list while opening gifts

Many people get too excited or think “I’ll definitely remember everything”, when opening gifts. I promise you won’t remember. Just write it down. There’s two of you now, have one person open and one person write down what you receive.

Make sure to take your time so you can write everyone a personal note

These people took the time to buy you a gift and sacrifice a day to come help you celebrate something special. Take the time to write them a special something. I promise they will appreciate it!

I hope you enjoyed reading these tips and tricks for your thank you’s and can take something away from this. Comment below if you have any more tips for others reading!

Wedding Wednesday : Invitations and Thank You’s

Hello you, and welcome to inside the mind of an Obsessive Compulsive Designer

Don’t you just love when you schedule a post for a specific day and it never posts! So frustrating! That’s why I’m bringing you another Wedding Wednesday post on a Thursday in honor of these gorgeous beauties right here. I recently received my wedding invitations and thank you’s in the mail and I’m obsessing over them. I used Minted for the invites and honestly can’t say enough good things! This service was so easy to use and so simple to create custom designs. They have such a large assortment of foil pressed stationary right now (which is obviously what I flocked to). This rose gold foil hits me right in the feels! It matches our wedding colors completely and I love water colored look of the gray. These are such high quality and decently priced, all things considering. Minted even threw in complimentary protective slips to make sure my invitations survived all kinds of crazy from the postal service. I’m in love with the way they turned out and I can’t wait for all of our guests to receive them.

Minted is also I really great place to get art or any kind of prints. I ordered a foiled print of my state (so cute) and it adds a great pop to my gallery wall. I highly recommend this company! I haven’t been disappointed yet!
